July Meeting Recap

We wanted to share with you some follow-up information from our recent membership meeting held on Thursday, July 25, at 10:00 AM.

We were honored to have Letitia James, New York State Attorney General, as our guest speaker. She emphasized the importance of protecting your rights as union members by electing Kamala Harris for President of the United States and other New York state candidates this fall. You can watch her address to the membership by clicking here.

Brian McDonnell, New York State Political Director for AFSCME, provided a crucial presentation about the New York State House races that must be won to flip the house. AFSCME is working to put a New Yorker in the Speaker's Chair with Hakeem Jeffries. Brian highlighted the focus on five key house races and the significant activity planned. You can view his PowerPoint presentation here.

Norman Isaacs, the Benefit Coordinator at the DC 37 Health and Security Fund, provided updates on the office change for Health and Security Services and enhancements to the optical and dental benefits. For more information, please visit here or call 212-815-1234.

Terri Brady, Deputy Administrator of the DC 37 Retirees Association, gave the financial report, presenting an overview of the Association’s financial position as of June 30, 2024, and a statement of activity from January 2024 to June 2024. Mark your calendars for our next Membership Meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 29 at 10:00 AM. We will once again have both a Zoom and dial-in option, as well as a Spanish simulcast line. Since we are holding these meetings as hybrid tele-town halls, we will continue to dial out to every member we have a phone number for at the start of each meeting to ensure we reach as many members as possible. All you need to do is pick up the phone!

We are immensely proud of what we are achieving together, and we look forward to continuing the work of the DC 37 Retirees Association together.

See you next month,
