As many of you are aware, the enactment of Tier 6 in 2012 has had significant repercussions for public sector employees across the state. This tier introduced a new "banded" system for retirement contributions, where employees now contribute between 3% - 6% of their salary based on their earnings, including overtime earnings.  

This change has not only increased the financial burden on workers but has also resulted in reduced retirement benefits for many of us. 

With over 60% of New York public sector workers now falling under Tier 6, it is imperative that we address the shortcomings of this system to ensure fairness and competitiveness in public sector employment, so please click here to find your legislator and tell them to FIX TIER SIX!
