THANK CITY COUNCIL FOR PRESERVING NYC CODE 12-126

Greetings Brother & Sister Retirees:
I LOVE THE SMELL OF NAPALM IN THE MORNING, IT SMELLS LIKE VICTORY. I am pleased to inform you that the NYC Council has made a monumental decision NOT TO vote on amending Healthcare/Administrative Code 12-126. Congratulations, your letter writing, email sending, phone calling and rally attendance has convinced the City Council to abstain from seeking to change 12-126. NOW, I urge you to contact your Council representative and thank them for supporting the Retirees and assure them that because of their actions, they have secured your vote at their next election. Thank you for your efforts in our endeavor to secure affordable/quality Healthcare.

MEDICARE PART B REIMBURSEMENT

Notice from the DC 37 Retirees Association: The NYC Office of Labor Relations (OLR) paid the standard amount of $1,782.00 for Medicare Part B reimbursement for 2021. This amount was paid electronically on April 15, 2022. A reimbursement check will be mailed to members who receive a paper pension check.

Please note that members who paid above the amount of $148.50 per month (IRMAA surcharge) will have to complete a form on the NYC OLR website. The New York City Office of Labor Relations will make the 2021 IRMAA form available on its website in May. The website address is www.nyc.gov/olr.at www.nyc.gov/olr to complete and submit a request for reimbursement differential (or scroll down to the bottom of this page for the direct links).

IRMAA 2021 REIMBURSEMENTS

ATTENTION RETIRED TRANSIT AUTHORITY MEMBERS ONLY WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE DC 37 RETIREES ASSOCIATION

Any Transit Authority retiree who retired after January 1, 2015; has applied for the IRMAA part of Medicare Part B reimbursement; and has been denied that reimbursement, please contact the Retirees office at [email protected] before May 26, 2022.

FOR ALL OTHER DC 37 RETIREES ASSOCIATION MEMBERS

IRMAA 2021 annual reimbursements will be issued in October 2022. Medicare-eligible retirees and their Medicare-eligible dependents can submit an IRMAA application if they paid above the standard amount of $148.50 per month. If you did not pay more than the standard amount, then you are not eligible for IRMAA.  

  • If you are currently receiving your pension check through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or direct deposit, your reimbursement will be deposited directly into your bank account. This is separate from your pension payment. If you don’t have EFT or direct deposit, you should receive a check in the mail.
